An Empirical Analysis that Forecast a High Likelihood of Emergency Loan Need Between Ages 27 to 41 Among Graduate Students for Policy Decisions

    Get PDF
The increase in graduate schools’ enrollments due to the global recession poses a complex challenge for graduate school deans and policy decisions. The data indicate that between the ages 27 to 41 emergency loan need is high among graduate students. As more non-traditional students seek admission into graduate school, there may be a prescribed role for the emergency loan in order to reduce the level of borrowing necessary among traditional as well as non-traditional graduate students for effective policy decision making. Analysis of emergency loan recipients provides insight for future researchers to investigate other critical factors that influence emergency loan need not addressed in this assessment. In any case, however, emergency loans will clearly improve policy decisions relating to retention and completion rates among graduate students in a post recession world

This analysis studies closely education affordability through the epistemology of emergency loan need that signals economic challenges on the horizon for domestic and international students seeking a post graduate credential at any cost. Prior studies have been very helpful; however, to the best of our knowledge there is not a comprehensive study that has investigated the comparison of small vs. large emergency student loans taken out by graduate students. Also, to the best of our knowledge and to date there are no studies that have investigated the patterns and relationships among ethnicity, gender, marital status, degree type, and college awarded for both small vs. large emergency loans. To fill the gaps in the literature, we conducted our research by collecting datasets from 335 graduate students enrolled in a large public university located in North America. Our data analysis provides strong indicators and evidence that both small and large emergency loan needs exist in a diverse spectrum of colleges, degree types, ethnicities, genders, ages, and marital statuses. Also, the regression analysis indicates that there is not a significant relationship between GPA and emergency loan needs for both small and large loans. We also, used data mining technique to investigate patters and relationships among ethnicity, gender, marital status, degree type, and college awarded for both small vs. large emergency loans. Our study contains vast research and managerial implications for both academia and top managements

Statement of Problem: Collaboration a Means to Chaos Likert Type Survey Instrument: Collaborating with other students on academic assignments without having permission from your professor. A large Southwest university examines five years of data about the distinction that may contribute to ethical misconduct in the classroom and misguided actions as a future professional. The classroom models the evolution of technological shifts, which requires broader interaction across disciplines to manage projects. The encouragement to build teamwork skills through class assignments benefits preparation to enter the market economy to lead in e-commerce, social media, information Systems, and Business Analytics. The survey data indicates that collaboration with or without professorial approval is acceptable. An impending issue of an unauthorize collaborative effort signals an absence of clarity does not matter. As professionals in our disciplines, it is imperative to communicate the importance of appropriate use of collaboration as a tool. Fail to do so establishes a weakness in learning and professional development protocols detrimental to success in the market. The engagement of collaborative projects includes internal and external strangers that may be less oriented toward best practices criteria. There must be an elevation to share why clarity matters to the team that comprise potential legal ramifications: 1. Incompetence: inability to do something successfully, ineptitude. 2. Misconduct: managed badly or dishonestly or willfully engaged in wrongful behavior. 3. Malfeasance: wrongdoing or misconduct by a public/private official or the commission of an act that is illegal. 4. Misfeasance: doing of a lawful act in an unlawful or improper manner that infringes on the rights of others. 5. Nonfeasance: the failure to do what duty requires. The five years of empirical research data punctuates a lack of understanding risk associated with the integration of professional disciplines to manages problems of today and tomorrow. Training is preparation to alleviate disruption in a world that struggles with cultural and disciplinary interaction. The research looks closer at the vitality of collaboration readiness among students and professionals

This study examined factors influencing employees’ participation in non-malicious, information systems security deviant behavior (N-ISSDB) (e.g., e.g., connecting computers to the Internet through an insecure wireless network, not disposing and destroying all unneeded sensitive documents and information on computer in a timely manner, and opening emails from unverified senders) from the theoretical lens of formal control mechanisms and formal sanctions. Empirical data was collected from 338 professionals based in the United States of America. Relevant hypotheses were formulated and tested using the partial least squares technique. The results indicate that detection control mechanism (i.e., evaluation/monitoring) and deterrence countermeasures or factors (i.e., punishment certainty and punishment severity) have negative association with employees’ participation in N-ISSDB. The data did not show that control mechanism related to reward and specifications have meaningful roles in dissuading employees’ engagement in N-ISSDB

The growth of online education along with decisions by many prominent higher education institutions to offer virtually all their classes online has altered the strategic view of online education. Today, 66% of chief academic officers consider online education critical to their long-term strategy and 67% believe outcomes from online classes are equivalent to those in face-to-face classes. Hence, research to understand the factors that drive the effectiveness of the underlying technology, virtual learning environment (VLE), is important. This study evaluated the impact of student course interaction and technology comfort on VLE satisfaction. Two factors were used to operationalize satisfaction in this study: the virtual learning experience and anxiety in the VLE. We conducted an empirical study with 103 online learners. The results indicated positive relationship between course interaction and satisfaction and no support for the relationship between technology comfort and satisfaction

Emergency Loan Need Among Graduate Students Signals Debt Trends in Higher Education May Influence the Expansion of the U.S. Economy Long-term

    Get PDF
This article proposes that the rising cost of graduate education and debt may suppress interest of domestic and international students in advanced education and impact the market economy. There are three challenges indicated through emergency loan need increases that deter students from graduate education. First, intellectual and skills growth has been a path to wealth building with the cost of education modest and not a potential lifetime debt. Second, Responsibility Centered Management (RCM), galvanized due to reduction of state and federal funds to support education, may have the detrimental effect of exponentially increasing tuition and fees to maintain programs, staff, and faculty. Third, the phenomena of Nonomics evolve where the student invests the sweat equity to achieve the credentials, but lifestyle enrichment is deferred ten to twenty years due to education cost

    Get PDF
In the information-driven and application rich environment of smartphones, power is closer to the user than ever before and it has the potential of helping them become more effective and efficient. Smartphones have become increasingly important for companies to create strategic opportunities and competitive advantage by adding value for its stakeholders and improving efficiency. Technological advances in smartphones have led to increased mobile applications and implications for theory and practice since they create strategic opportunities and competitive advantage by adding value for customers and improving efficiency through the use of mobile technologies. Understanding the factors that influence the continuance in usage of smartphones in globally distributed teams is extremely helpful because knowledge on how to balance requirements and strategic interests effectively is extremely scarce in existing business model literature. To date, there are no published studies that have investigated the influence of cognitive trust and familiarity on smartphone continuance usage. To fill this gap in the literature, we developed our model based on the Visual Perception Theories as its theoretical foundation. Our model indicates that both familiarity with a smartphone and cognitive trust in integrity of a smartphone have a positive and significant effect on smartphone continuance usage. Also, our study shows factors that influence smartphone continuance usage through cognitive trust. These findings support the Visual Perception Theories
